Drag Race All Stars 8 RuVeals historic twist as fans able to crown a winner
In a major twist, the upcoming season of Drag Race All Stars will see fans given the power to crown a winner for the first time ever. The historic move was Ru-vealed on Thursday, April 27, in a brand new trailer for the show that has left viewers gagged.
“For the first time in All Stars herstory, there are two ways to win,” the iconic RuPaul explained.
“The first is the traditional way,” she continued, referring to the show’s usual judging process. “The second way: fans will determine which of our eliminated queens will win ‘Queen of the Fame Games’.”
That’s right! In season 8, the audience will get to have its say, crowning one of the performers who doesn’t make it to the final and awarding them with a $50,000 cash prize.
Not only did the new trailer snatch wigs with this new twist, but it also gave a sneak peek of what to expect from the upcoming All Stars instalment. This includes some sickening runway previews, snippets of insider T and, of course, the amazing guest judges: Ego Nwodim, Zooey Deschanel, JoJo Siwa, Matt Rogers and Idina Menzel, to name but a few.
Needless to say, there’ll also be a good dose of drama, with Kahanna Montrese, originally from season 11, featured saying: “There’s girls who are not playing a fair game.”
The full cast was announced earlier in April, promising the most diverse lineup yet. It consists of acts from season 2 all the way up to season 13, and also features Canadian queen Jimbo, the first-ever performer from an international franchise to appear on a non-winners season of All Stars.
Some fan favourites, as well as those we love to hate, will also be back, back, back again for what’s expected to be a killer contest. Check out the full cast details here!
Season 8 of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars will premiere on May 12 on Paramount+ in the US and WOW Presents Plus in the UK and internationally.
