Drama camp taking applications for summer performance

May 9—Ada Center-Stage Drama Camp is now taking applications for the summer performance of "Itchin' fer a Hitchin'.".

The script is written by director Vickie Reifsnider with songs by Darice Strickland, Jamie Davis, Vickie Reifsnider, and musical director Rudy Lupinski.

Pa says, "Ain't nobody getting married until Gerdy finds herself a man!"

It's hard enough for the McCoy gals to find men in the mountains, but having to wait for Gerdy to find one is nearly impossible unless a stranger happens to wander up the hill.

There's never a dull moment in these hills, especially when the gossiping Clemens Clan has announced that the FBI is comin' to confiscate the moonshine stills, Pa fuedin' with the Deacon family, and Babe's secret she's itchin' to tell.

The 2024 camp schedule begins with a Meet and Greet on Thursday, May 23 at 7 p.m. at East Central University Faust Auditorium.

The first week, campers will leave from the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center at noon Monday, May 27, for the Texoma Baptist Ministry Camp in Mead, and return to Ada Friday, May 31 at approximately 3 p.m.

On Monday, June 3, the second week, campers depart from the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center at noon for the Texoma Baptist Ministry Camp and return to Ada Friday, June 7 around 3:00 p.m.

For the third week, daytime rehearsals are held at the ECU Ataloa Theatre Monday through Wednesday, June 10, 11, and 12 from 1-4 p.m.

Campers will perform the show at the theatre for the general public Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights, June 13, 14, and 15 at 7 p.m.

Tickets are available at the door before each performance.

The tuition fee is $375 per camper. The fee includes camp fees, food, and lodging. This price does not include costumes.

All performers will provide their own costumes. A costume description will be determined once roles are assigned.
