Dramatic boat chase footage released as Spanish police seize huge haul of drugs

Dramatic footage of a boat chase has been released by Spanish police as officers seized a huge haul of drugs and arrested more than 60 people.

Spain's Guardia Civil has shared footage showing one of its speed boats pursuing a vessel during the operation to tackle drug trafficking.

The force said 63 people have been arrested after officers seized more than 12,000 kilos of hashish and 630 kilos of cocaine along the Andalusian coast and the Guadalquivir river.

Police also confiscated 13 boats as part of Operation Arrow, which was set up to tackle drug trafficking organisations operating along Spain's southern coast.

The Guardia Civil said more than 12,000 litres of fuel has been seized as part of the operation - reducing the logistical capabilities of criminal groups operating in the area.

The force shared images of some of the seized drugs, confiscated fuel and boats being lifted out of the water with cranes.

One image appears to show two men being apprehended on a small boat.

Police said a stolen vehicle used for criminal purposes has also been seized.

Operation Arrow began on 1 April and involves various units of the Guardia Civil, including maritime, land and air units.
