Police have released an image of the moment they brought a stolen Ford car to a stop on the A444 in Nuneaton. In it, officers can be seen swarming around the car while a 'stinger' lies in front of it.

The police 'stinger', which is a device with spikes that is thrown onto a road to stop vehicles, was not called into action as the car came to a stop. Members of Warwickshire Police's Operational Patrol Unit (OPU) explained that they clocked the car near to Bermuda Park.

A post on the OPU page on Facebook explained: "This is the moment where we stopped a stolen Ford on the A444 near to Bermuda. We received information that the vehicle was using false plates and was heading towards Nuneaton.

"We stopped it using pre-emptive tactics including the stinger where the driver was detained.

"One stolen car recovered, one in custody on suspicion of theft offences, possession of a bladed article and going equipped." It concluded: "This was a great result from the team with another stolen vehicle and weapon off the streets."

The driver was taken into custody following the police action yesterday (May 5).
