Watch: Terrifying moment 'Isis attacker' ran down New York street brandishing fake firearms
Dramatic footage has captured the moment that New York terror suspect Sayfullo Saipov ran down the street in New York brandishing fake weapons after he drove a truck onto a bike path, killing eight people.
Saipov is alleged to have steered onto a Manhattan bike path in a rental pick-up truck, knocking down cyclists and pedestrians at speed, killing eight and injuring at least 11.
After the attack, his truck swerved back into traffic and collided with a school bus before coming to a stop.
He then proceeded to run through traffic and began shouting ‘Allahu Akbar’, meaning ‘God is great’, as he confronted police while brandishing two imitation firearms.
Footage posted on Snapchat has captured the moment that his brutal attack was ended by police.
In the clip, Saipov is seen darting in between New York taxis before he is shot, with police seen rushing over to him as he lies on the floor.
The immigrant from Uzbekistan was in critical condition but expected to survive after the shot to the abdomen.
He was apprehended by NYPD officer Ryan Nash, who has been widely hailed for his heroics in the wake of the attack.
