Feb. 5 (UPI) -- Dreaming Whilst Black will return for a second season.

The BBC and Showtime announced in a press release Monday that the British comedy has been renewed for Season 2.

Dreaming Whilst Black hails from A24 and Big Deal Films. The series is co-created, co-written and co-executive produced by Adjani Salmon, who also stars on the show.

Dreaming Whilst Black is loosely inspired by real-life events. Season 1 followed Kwabena (Salmon), an aspiring filmmaker stuck in a dead-end recruitment job who takes the first step toward achieving his dream.

"Along the way, he is quickly confronted with the tribulations of balancing finances, love, and his own sense of reality," an official synopsis reads.

Season 1 premiered on BBC Three in July 2023 and on Showtime and Paramount+ in September. Season 2 will begin filming later this year in the United Kingdom.

"The response to Dreaming Whilst Black has been overwhelmingly loving, raucous and humbling," Salmon said. "I'm blessed that we have a chance to entertain da peopledem again. Like season one, our goal is to end up being shared in the Aunties WhatsApp Groups."

The Season 1 cast also featured Dani Moseley, Jo Martin, Demmy Ladipo, Rachel Adedeji, Babirye Bukilwa, Martina Laird and Roger Griffiths.
