On Wednesday, the Drew Barrymore Show host, 48, decided to get a tattoo on air — and it's one that holds some significance.

During her talkshow this week, Barrymore had the phrase "I Am Human" tattooed on her wrist by Ink Master season 15 contestant Jon Mesa, as she documented the journey to her 12th tattoo on TikTok and Instagram.

Sharing a behind-the-scenes clip from set, Barrymore revealed that she got the idea for the tattoo just a day before. Barrymore also counted how many tattoos she currently had. "I like 9," she joked when asked if she liked all of her then-11 tattoos. "And today we'll make it 10."

"I've been getting tattoos at different times of my life, ever since I was 13 years old," she added. "I think I'll be getting tattoos for the rest of my life.

Eventually, during the show, Mesa came out to give Barrymore some new art for her arm — during which Barrymore looked completely unfazed. She then introduced the crowd to Ink Master host Joel Madden, who cosigned her tattoo and its message.

"I'm impressed because I've been watching and you haven't made a face," Madden, 44, said. "I love 'I Am Human.'"

"We all talk bad to ourselves. We're the meanest to ourselves. If someone talked to us like we talked to ourselves, we'd kick them out of the room."

At the end of the clip, Barrymore revealed her feelings about her new ink. "I love it so much," she said. "His seal of approval made me feel really good. It set me on my way on little clouds and wings."

This isn't the first time Barrymore has gotten new ink during her show. Back in 2021, she tapped Ink Master star Ryan Ashley to give her a tattoo of the phrase "home is where we are" — as a special nod to her family.

"I've been saying it to myself for the last five years," Barrymore said on air.

"Wherever life takes you, if you're lucky enough to be alongside people you love, then to me, that became the definition of home," she explained, adding that it's "the most important life lesson" she has learned.

On Instagram, Barrymore then noted that she didn't know what "home" was until she had her daughters, Olive, 11, and Frankie, 9. "When I was in rental apartments, or not knowing where life was going, or so upset that the plans I tried to solidify for my kids had changed, it really led to the discovery of what home really means for me — and that is if we are together, wherever we are, home is where we are."

Now, Barrymore's latest tat sits just below her "home is where we are" message, and to the side of her children's names on her wrist.
