Driver who fled high street crash sought by police

An Isle of Wight driver who fled the scene of a crash in Ryde yesterday (Saturday) is being sought by police.

As previously reported by the County Press, part of Ryde High Street was closed last night following a collision.

A VW Golf collided with a parked Land Rover, just past the traffic lights near the launderette.

Officers were called at 8.26pm, shutting the road while the VW was recovered.

Police said the driver of the Volkswagen decamped from the vehicle and left the scene.

Investigations are ongoing, the force said.

No injuries were reported and the road has since reopened.
