Drivers in England warned to 'stay off' motorway from tomorrow til Sunday

As fans gear up to travel to Wembley Stadium for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, Graham Conway, Managing Director at Select Car Leasing has warned of traffic chaos around the area. With roadworks currently underway on the A40 near Wembley and the outskirts of London, there may be lengthy delays for those travelling in and out of London in peak times.

“Those heading into London for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour are warned to avoid using the A40 or M1 near Wembley to avoid traffic turmoil," Graham said. “The superstar has been touring through the UK, and traffic chaos followed her to each location.

“Her first show in Edinburgh saw fans travel from all over the world, with some queuing for as long as 12 hours. The event caused major disruptions on trams, buses, and the roads into Edinburgh.

“Fans following her to Liverpool also experienced traffic chaos, with lengthy queues and extreme Uber charges of up to £59.65, over four times the average price of a lift in the city. London is predicted to be no different.

“With around 90,000 tickets sold, the usually crammed capital is set to experience chaotic scenes whilst fans travel through London by bus, train, tube, and car to get to the venue. Drivers who are planning to get out of the city this weekend are advised to leave in time with plenty of knowledge of alternative routes, as the capital will likely see much heavier delays. The longer queues will make a usually already busy Friday afternoon a drivers’ nightmare.

“Roadworks are currently underway on the A40 near Wembley and the outskirts of London, causing lengthy delays for those travelling in and out of London in peak times. Although Transport for London (TfL) stated that they are prepared for the Swifties, no changes to the existing services are planned for the influx of fans.

“Those travelling through the city are advised to prepare essentials such as water and medicine if necessary for their journeys as the weather is predicted to warm up, with temperatures rising to 23-24 degrees. To stay up to date this weekend on the latest traffic announcements, those in the driving seat are advised to set traffic alerts on their radio. Those travelling via public transport are advised to set traffic alerts and updates on their smartphones to decide what route is the best for them to take."

The US star will perform three gigs at London's Wembley Stadium this Friday, Saturday and Sunday - before returning to the venue in August for a further five dates.
