Drivers in Southampton are being warned to expect delays in the city centre as three cruise ships have arrived in the port this morning.

Intercruises' Anthem of the Sea arrived in Southampton at 5.27am this morning from La Coruna after a trip around Portugal and Spain.

Hundreds of passengers also disembarked from P&O's Britannia this morning after it arrived in the port at around 6am. The ship departed Cherbourg in France yesterday.

Joining Britannia and the Anthem of the Sea was Carnival's Caribbean Princess, which departed Akureyri in Iceland on June 10, arriving in Southampton at 6:30 this morning.

Motorists in the city, particularly around the port and waterfront area, are being warned to plan ahead before travelling.

On its live traffic map, AA Traffic News is reporting: "Delays expected due to three ships are in port today arriving between 05:30 and 06:30 and depart between 16:00 and 17:00 on West Quay Road, Town Quay and Canute Road in Southampton."
