Drone Footage Captures Implosion of Historic Miami Hotel

A historic Miami Beach hotel that hosted the likes of President John F Kennedy, Frank Sinatra, and the Beatles was demolished on November 13, after authorities deemed it unsafe.

Built in 1957, the 17-story Deauville Hotel was closed after an electrical fire in 2017, according to local news reports.

Footage taken by Florida native Dean Bush shows the moment of the planned implosion on Sunday.

The hotel hosted the Beatles in 1964 when they broadcast their first performance on The Ed Sullivan Show from Deauville’s Napoleon Ballroom.

Local news reported contractors spent weeks prepping the site by drilling more than 1,200 holes in the building. Credit: Dean Bush via Storyful
