With the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's five-day tour of Poland and Germany with Prince George and Princess Charlotte coming to a close today, the world's press have spent the last week with their camera lenses pointed constantly in the direction of the young family.

And despite no doubt having been pre-occupied packing two small - but perfectly formed - extra suitcases for the trip, Kate's reputation as a modern-day style icon is always firmly tested during these official tours and requires a meticulous wardrobe.

But while most would consider such a prospect daunting, the Duchess - with the help of her stylist Natasha Archer - is known to use official royal tours to experiment with her aesthetic.

Having previously battled humidity while hiking in India and unpredictable weather in Canada, Kate has faced a number of tricky sartorial missions.

Thankfully, the seemingly calm Western Europe summer has proven beneficial for the Duchess in the style stakes this week.

Arriving at Berlin train station this morning on the last day of the tour, Kate opted for a pale lilac dress.

A hue we rarely see the Duchess in, the high-neck long-sleeved piece was relatively simple in shape allowing the colour to take centre stage.

Stepping out on Wednesday evening during a garden party hosted by the British Ambassador to celebrate the Queen's birthday, Kate opted for a bold red dress by Alexander McQueen which featured a modern Bardot neckline and puffball sleeves.

Pairing the gown with her new favourite heel - the scalloped Prada stiletto - the Duchess's look was one of her most directional so far.

Having previously worn the likes of Alexander McQueen, Polish designer Gosia Baczynska and Erdem during her time in Poland, Kate stepped off the plane in Berlin yesterday wearing a blue coat dress.

In perfect synchronisation Princess Charlotte also arrived wearing blue. This time a softer shade, the 2-year-old wore a collared tea dress with floral print and matched her hair's bow and shoes to the shade.

Also wearing the hue were Prince William and Prince George, who both arrived in more subdued versions of the hue.

Taking inspiration from his father's navy blue suit, Prince George matched his dad via a pair of smart navy shorts which he paired with a pale blue and white short-sleeved shirt.

A similarly timeless look, Kate arrived in Warsaw on Monday wearing a classic white look by Alexander McQueen.

A feminine and floaty skirt suit, the peplum jacket skimmed over her hips as the sleeves fell to a flattering cropped length.

Wearing her newly-cropped hair in loose curls, Kate paired the suit with a pair of her favourite nude courts.

Joining her was Princess Charlotte, who wore a red and white patterned dress with red shoes which matched her father's tie, and George who smartened up his navy shorts with a checked red, white and blue full-sleeved shirt.
