“Dukes of Hazzard” stars reunite and tease potential reboot: 'Anything is possible'

It sounds like John Schneider, Tom Wopat, and Catherine Bach are as close as ever.

Those Hazzard County boys are back together. At least, they were at Gallatin Comic Con 2023 in Tennessee this past weekend.

The Dukes of Hazzard stars John Schneider (Bo Duke), Tom Wopat (Luke Duke), and Catherine Bach (Daisy Duke) reunited to connect with fans, along with castmates Byron Cherry (Coy Duke), Jeff Altman (Hughie Hogg), and Rick Hurst (Deputy Cletus Hogg).

Bach and Schneider spoke with Fox News Digital at the event and teased the potential for a reboot, something fans have long discussed, hoping Dukes might get the same treatment as other '80s shows like Hawaii Five-O, Night Court, and Quantum Leap.

"As far as a Dukes reunion," Bach, 69, teased, "anything is possible."

The original show debuted in 1979 and ran for 146 episodes, up until 1985. "I would make the case that the fans have kept the show alive all this time, and it’s very much appreciated by the cast," Wopat, 72, said. "God bless them."

The Dukes of Hazzard has been far from dormant since the original series ended. The cast did a reunion TV movie in 1997, and followed it with another TV movie in 2000, The Dukes of Hazzard: Hazzard in Hollywood. The series then got a big-screen adaptation in 2005 that starred Seann William Scott, Johnny Knoxville, and Jessica Simpson. None of the original stars appeared in the film. Since then, other than a straight-to-video 2007 film, The Dukes of Hazzard: The Beginning, things have been quiet in Hazzard County.

At the convention, Bach noted that the cast remains close. "First of all, John and Tom are family," she said. "I love them both so much and always love to catch up with them. It's a lot of laughs when we gather."

She continued: "We have so much history and know everything about each other. Well, pretty much everything. The secret to our long friendship is caring. We have seen each other through the good times and sad times… I do count on my TV cousins, and I think they know they can always count on me."

The feeling was mutual. "It was so great reconnecting with my castmates from The Dukes of Hazzard," Schneider, 63, said. "I don't know how to explain it, but we have been closer than Bo, Luke, and Daisy since the moment we met."

While a return of the Dukes and their '69 Dodge Charger has not been announced, Schneider hasn't been idle. His Christmas comedy Jingle Smells will be released on Rumble on Thanksgiving Day, and he has a new book coming later this month titled In the Driver's Seat: Love, Loss & Living with No Regrets. The book was written with his wife, Alicia, who died earlier this year.
