Dundee hit with six figure SPFL fine for 'breach of rules' after Rangers clash postponed twice at Dens Park

Dundee have been slapped with a hefty fine from the SPFL following FIVE postponements over the state of the pitch at Dens Park.

The Dees were twice recently scheduled to face Rangers before both fixtures were delayed further. The game was finally played last night in a 0-0 draw but the build-up had irked the Ibrox club and manager Philippe Clement who had a number of pops at the situation. Now the governing body has confirmed they have taken action following a disciplinary hearing this afternoon.

That will see the club hit with a £186,000 fine for the five games being delayed on October 7, 2023, December 23, 2023, January 2, 2024, March 17, 2024, and April 10, 2024.

The SPFL confirm that £120,000 of that number has been suspended until the end of the season. Should further issues arise they'll be forced to pay the full amount.

A spokesperson said: "SPFL Rules on pitch condition are an integral part of maintaining a fair league competition."
