Dutch woman, 99, gets ‘arrested’ just so she can tick it off her bucket list

A 99-year-old woman got herself “arrested” so she could tick it off her bucket list.

The Dutch woman, Annie, was pictured with a beaming smile inside a cell at a police station.

She wanted to spend some time in police custody before she died and officers were happy to fulfil her wish.

The bizarre photo shoot was organised by Annie’s niece, who got in touch with the Politie Nijmegen-Zuid force in the east of the Netherlands.

She told them her aunt wanted to tick “getting arrested” off her bucket list.

Annie was then driven to the police station and locked in a cell – officers even slapped some handcuffs on her for the full effect.

“We don’t usually do this, but we made an exception for Annie,” a police spokesperson told BuzzFeed.

“It was just a couple of minutes in the cell. It was all about the experience. We don’t know why it was on her bucket list.”

The force shared pictures of Annie’s stay on its Facebook page.

In its post, the police said Annie was almost 100 years old and had always wanted to “experience a police cell from within”.
