DWP to pay child benefit and universal credit early this week for millions - full list
Millions of people are set to get their universal credit and other benefits paid early this week. The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is changing the payment dates for some people because of the late May bank holiday.
Monday, May 27 is a bank holiday which means DWP and HMRC offices, job centres and helplines will be closed. Normal payments like universal credit, state pension and child benefit that are scheduled to go out on those dates are being processed earlier to ensure people don't have to wait too long to get their money.
It means that for millions of people you'll get your money earlier depending on which benefits you get. To get the latest money stories straight to your inbox twice a week sign up to our newsletter here.

The changes mean that anyone due to receive certain benefits on Monday, May 27 will be paid on Friday, May 24 instead. This applies to the following DWP benefits:
Attendance allowance
Carer’s allowance
Child benefit
Disability living allowance
Employment and support allowance
Income support
Jobseeker’s allowance
Pension credit
State pension
Tax credits
It will also affect the following HMRC payments:
Working Tax Credit
Child Tax Credit
Child Benefit
Guardian’s Allowance
While this is good news as it means you will receive your money early, it also means you will have to wait longer to get your next payment and will mean you need to make your funds stretch longer.
