The payment date for millions of people claiming benefits from the Government is due to change this month. People receiving financial support from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) were due to be paid on Monday, May 27.

However, as that date falls on the Spring Bank Holiday, benefits will be paid three days early on Friday, May 24. This is done to ensure that claimants get their money and are not left waiting longer due to the bank holiday.

People are being told to make this change in their calendars amid the ongoing cost-of-living crisis. The payments cover a wide range of people with different needs, ages and categories.

  • Attendance Allowance

  • Carer's Allowance

  • Child Benefit

  • Disability Living Allowance

  • Employment and Support Allowance

  • Income Support

  • Jobseeker's Allowance

  • Pension Credit

  • Personal Independence Payment

  • State Pension

  • Tax Credits (such as Working Tax Credit)

  • Universal Credit
