A mum of seven who was told she was in remission has received the awful news that her cancer is terminal and she may only have a few months to live. Kimberley Deane has had an unimaginable journey already after being diagnosed with stage 3 cervical cancer a few years ago which has since spread to her pelvis.

The 37-year-old mum from St Austell underwent chemotherapy and radiotherapy every day for three months. During that time she even said goodbye to her children as she wasn't sure she'd make it.

Kimberley had to undergo further treatment in Derriford Hospital in Plymouth where she had brachytherapy surgery which meant she was forced to lie down for five days with 2ft metal rods inserted into her cervix to deliver high doses of radiation.

The treatment was extremely painful as the rods pressed on her spine from the inside of her body. But after the pain and trauma, there was a glimmer of hope for Kimberley who was told that her cancer was in remission - only for her hopes to be dashed again.

Shannon Davy, Kimberley's sister in law, said the brave mum was left in the dark for several months about whether the cancer had indeed started to shrink or not before she was told that it was there and had spread.

Shannon said: "Kimberley now has stage 4 terminal cervical cancer that has spread to her lung and bowel lining. She was told she had around two years to live but recently was told that her cancer has now spread more in her lung and now to the lymph nodes near her heart."

She said that her beloved sister-in-law had waited to be seen at the Royal Cornwall Hospital and when she got an appointment with her consultant she was told her cancer had gotten worse and spread more into her lung as well as to her lymph nodes near and around her heart. Shannon said: "She was left completely heartbroken.

"Kimberley and her children, they feel completely broken. This is why we’re doing our appeal for funds and hope we can find more answers and if the answers can’t be found then Kimberley and her children deserve to have that final memorable bus journey she dreams off."

Kimberley's family have now launched a GoFundMe fundraising campaign to give her and her children - aged 16, 10, 8, 7, 5 and twins aged 4 - the best possible time they have left together.

Shannon added: "She has five amazing boys and two beautiful twin girls who love their mummy and cry every night. The young ones tell her they will invent a shrinking machine to go inside her belly and tell the naughty bug to leave mummy alone and to please not kill their mummy.

"Listening to the hope in there voices is absolutely heart-breaking. We hope we can raise funds to seek a second opinion as well as any treatment that might be necessary to give this amazing mother a chance and most importantly more time.

"If we can't, Kimberley's dream has always been to buy a bus and travel with her children. They've never travelled anywhere and she doesn't even own a passport. We would love to give her and her children memories they could never forget with what time she has left."
