Eamonn Holmes gives alarming health update that he 'can't walk'

Eamonn Holmes has given a worrying update on his ongoing health struggles, telling viewers his back problems are so bad that he "can't walk".

The TV presenter, 63, had spinal surgery in September 2022 and then had to take four months off work, eventually returning in January this year - but is still plagued by problems in his recovery.

On Monday morning, during his GB News programme Holmes interviewed Australian runner Tim Franklin who is currently challenging himself to run around the world.

Talking about his admiration for Franklin, Holmes admitted: "I can't run, I can't walk, I can't do anything except watch TV and eat."

He explained to his guest: "I just got problems last year in my back, which I haven't recovered from. It's not good, it's not a good recipe I have to say."

When Holmes returned to work in January, he told his social media followers that he hoped getting back to his job would "heal" him, adding: "Any of you that are long-term sick or in any way convalescing particularly at home will know that there's a lot of frustration involved in it.

"For me I think I'm going to give it a go, be back to work and hopefully get better as a result of doing day-to-day things."

The broadcaster, who is married to TV star Ruth Langsford, had been walking with a cane before his surgery but admitted that the operation had not been a quick fix.

On his first day back at GB News, he told viewers: "It's set me back and it made me fall down stairs. My leg gave way and I fell down 18 stairs. So I fell down the spiral staircase, smashed my right shoulder."

Holmes' wife Langsford has been having some health struggles of her own as a chest infection has forced the Loose Women star to miss a week of work.

She updated her fans over the weekend with a video of the steaming treatments she has been advised to try - which included Holmes trying to make her laugh as she breathed in the steam.

Langsford wrote: "So day 3 of antibiotics and the doctor told me to steam twice a day... I try to do this in peace but @eamonnholmes decided to watch and offer helpful advice this morning! The steamer is from @beurer_official bought from @amazon if there are any other sufferers out there #chestinfectionsucks."
