Easington candidates for the general election 2024

The Easington constituency in County Durham has widely been regarded as one of the safest Labour seats in the country. The seat has been held since 2010 by former laboratory officer, councillor and political researcher Grahame Morris.

On the left of the party, Mr Morris has mostly served on the backbenches during his time in Parliament. His opponents will include Joanne Howey, a Conservative councillor for the Woodhouse Close ward on Durham County Council, and Liberal Democrat Tony Ferguson, a charity deputy CEO.

The constituency has seen only minor changes in the latest boundary review, gaining Thornley and Wingate from the former Sedgefield constituency. Its main population areas include Peterlee, Seaham and Easington.
