EastEnders airs exit in Dean Wicks story

EastEnders spoilers follow.

Jean Slater has made a shocking exit in EastEnders. The character temporarily left Albert Square in Tuesday's (March 26) episode, after being manipulated by the villainous Dean Wicks.

Earlier this week, Jean discovered Dean's secret that he was purposefully keeping his daughter Jade Masood sick by emptying the pill capsules for her antibiotics.

When Jean confronted Dean for intentionally hurting his own child, she was shocked when he turned the accusation around on her. Dean continued to manipulate Jean in the latest instalment, trying to convince her that she'd been the one mismanaging Jade's medications.

"I knew you were getting confused, but I thought I could put it right," Dean insisted. "I thought all I had to do was check up after you were gone and give Jade the correct dose, and things would be okay. She loves having you here. The last thing I wanted to do was stop her seeing you."

Jade overheard the conversation and angrily hit out at Jean. After Dean put her back to bed, Jean warned him he wouldn't be able to twist things around.

"This isn't the first time you've had a problem with young kids and medication, is it?" Dean asked her.

Dean then brought up events from two years ago when Lily Slater took some of Jean's medication following her hospitalisation.

With Jean's mind swirling, Dean slipped the empty pill capsules in her bag before suggesting Jean was in the middle of "another bipolar episode".

"You should really get some help, Jean," Dean told her.

He then threatened that he'd tell everyone what happened with Jade or even speak to the police, unless she went away.

Jean felt she had no choice but to go to Little Mo's for a while to clear her head, when Dean warned that the reporter who wrote about Jade's fundraiser may have some questions for her.

"Maybe it's best if you weren't around for a bit," Dean suggested.

Will Dean get away with his latest scam?
