EastEnders airs Jay Brown breakthrough in drugs story

EastEnders has aired a breakthrough for Jay Brown in the ongoing drugs story.

Callum Highway set up Jay to be arrested for ketamine possession earlier in the week, as a means to hopefully get him off the drug.

Jay had got the ketamine from sex worker Nadine, who he has been seeing every night as a non-sexual sleeping companion because of her resemblance to his late wife Lola Pearce-Brown.

The situation deteriorated further when Jay punched Callum after finding out that he'd been stitched up over his arrest.

In Thursday's episode (October 12), Jay was incredibly remorseful over his outburst and begged Callum for his forgiveness.

"I haven't been able to stop thinking about last night, and I'm really sorry," he told him.

Callum was understandably still upset so hurtfully suggested that Lexi at least has "two out of three" dads looking after her. He then told Jay he shouldn't be allowed around Lexi until he is able to sort himself out.

Jay was feeling more despondent than ever, leading him to call Nadine to score more ketamine. However, Jay had a heartbreaking wake-up call when he caught a glimpse of a family portrait with Lola.

Later, Jay opened up to Callum, explaining he'd considered buying drugs but stopped himself because he didn't want to lose Lexi.

"I'll go to a counsellor. I'll do whatever it takes," he promised Callum.

Callum hugged Jay, promising he and Ben would be there to support him. Will Jay see through his promise to get help?

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer.
