EastEnders airs new Jay Brown twist in latest episode

EastEnders spoilers follow from Wednesday's BBC iPlayer episode (October 18). Some viewers may prefer to avoid these story details, as the episode hasn't yet aired on BBC One.

EastEnders' Jay Brown was left regretting his latest actions in today's episode (October 18).

Jay has been on a downward spiral for the last few weeks, consumed with grief for his late wife Lola.

After striking up a friendship with sex worker Nadine, Jay has started taking drugs – much to the concern of his friend Callum, who reported him to the police.

Jay was still struggling to cope in Wednesday's episode, which is currently available to watch on BBC iPlayer, and snapped at Billy when he suggested scattering Lola's ashes.

Jay proceeded to get drunk in the Square. Honey saw this, and tried to reach out to him.

He then moved on to Peggy's, where he made a half-hearted attempt to get to know newcomer Priya.

At rock bottom, Jay eventually met with Nadine again, revealing that it's her he wants – not the drugs.

They eventually slept together, but this only left Jay even more consumed with guilt and sadness.

Jay's actions will come back to haunt him in next week's scenes, when his loved ones all turn their backs on him.

The story is ultimately paving the way for Jay to have a devastating accident on the way to Margate, as he continues to spiral out of control.

Discussing Jay's state of mind recently, Jamie Borthwick – who plays him – said: "He's low, he's hit rock bottom. He doesn't know where to turn, which is why he's resorted to taking drugs.

"It seems to be problem after problem for him, and it's probably the lowest he's ever felt.

"There is a connection with Gina, but other than that he is kind of on his own. Gina is there, but she has a warning from her own family not to get involved."

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer.
