EastEnders boss Chris Clenshaw shares more on Stacey Slater's big story

EastEnders spoilers follow.

EastEnders boss Chris Clenshaw has revealed some more information about Stacey Slater's shock storyline.

Stacey is already dealing with the news that her 12-year-old daughter Lily is pregnant, as well as her ex Ryan cutting her child support in the middle of a cost-of-living crisis because Lily refused to move up north with him.

Following the soap's big flashfoward scene – in which viewers were transported to Christmas 2023 and saw Denise, Sharon, Linda, Kathy, Suki and Stacey faced with a dead body – Clenshaw has revealed that Stacey will go to "extreme lengths" to protect her family.

"It's a big year for the Slaters this year," he said during an appearance on Loose Women today (February 24).

"Stacey is currently trying to protect her family and she is really finding the cost-of-living crisis quite difficult, as well as coming to terms with the fact her 12-year old daughter is pregnant.

"This year, we will see Stacey do something that she has not done before and go to quite extreme lengths to protect her family. Lillia Turner, who plays Lily, is just doing a phenomenal job as well."

Previously explaining how he decided that the six matriarchs would be the best fit for this storyline, Clenshaw said: "EastEnders has always had strong women at its heart, and we are incredibly lucky to have a host of hugely talented and extraordinary actors in our gift.

"It therefore made sense to throw some of our most popular and iconic female characters into a huge storyline together that has never been seen before.

"These women are neighbours, they live on the same square, but we rarely seem them all interact in such a huge way."

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer.
