Yahoo News EastEnders brings back another dead character in bombshell storyline

EastEnders has confirmed returns for an original Walford resident and a character long thought to be dead.
According to various media reports, Adam Woodyatt will be making his long-awaited return to Walford later this year alongside Michelle Collins, who played Ian's wife Cindy Beale.
The duo have reportedly already started filming new scenes, though there's no word yet on when their bombshell storyline will play out on screen.

Michelle Collins' return to EastEnders is particularly shocking since Ian was told in a memorable 1998 episode that Cindy died giving birth to her daughter Cindy Williams.
Cindy and Ian's chequered past dates back to the late 1980s, after Cindy had dated Ian's rival Simon Wicks. Like all of Ian's marriages, his union with Cindy soon fell apart and she hired a hitman to try to kill Ian.
After the breakdown of her marriage, Cindy temporarily fled the Square with sons Peter and Steven Beale to hide out in Italy.
Ian later teamed up with the Mitchell brothers to track Cindy down and take back custody of his sons.
Ian has been away from the Square for two and a half years after finding out that his then-wife Sharon Watts was trying to poison him in a deadly dinner.
He has since returned to Walford only once, for a cameo in a 2022 episode where Walford residents new and old gathered to say goodbye to Dot Cotton.
Adam Woodyatt routinely hinted that he could return to the soap after a break, but Collins had previously thrown doubt on the likelihood of a proper return for Cindy.
"If Cindy came back, then what? I think it would be an anti-climax," she told The Daily Star Sunday a few years ago. "I don't know what you'd do with her.
"I really think sometimes it's better to let the myth carry on. For Gillian [Taylforth], EastEnders is where she belongs. The show needs the older women who are matriarchal characters."
EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer.
