We’re used to seeing actress Maisie Smith giving Bianca Jackson the run-around in Albert Square – but now her career is taking a very different path.
Child star Maisie, now 15, first appeared in EastEnders as feisty Tiffany Butcher at the tender age of six – and even scooped a gong at the British Soap Awards in 2009.
But now Maisie’s following the difficult path previously trodden by luminaries like Kylie Minogue, Holly Valance, and, er, Nick Berry by attempting to forge herself a career in music.
She’s got a pretty good chance, too: New single Good Thing shows off her impressive vocals, which fans of her YouTube channel will already be familiar with from her covers of classics like House of the Rising Sun, The Jackson’s Who’s Loving You, and Justin Bieber’s Let Me Love You.
As well as her six years on the Square, Maisie’s also had a taste of Hollywood starring as young Elizabeth alongside Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson in The Other Boleyn Girl.
Oh, and remember Maisie’s character in EastEnders was actually named after Martine McCutcheon’s character, herself no stranger to the pop charts. Surely that’s a good omen, right?
