EastEnders confirms return for Yolande Trueman

EastEnders spoilers follow.

Former EastEnders cast member Angela Wynter will be returning to the show for Patrick Trueman's homecoming.

Angela will be reprising her role as Patrick's former wife Yolande Trueman this summer, after previously starring in the soap as a regular from 2003 to 2008.

Patrick is set to reappear in Albert Square next week, following his temporary exit in March in hopes of finding Yolande and rekindling their romance.

"I have been really looking forward to playing her again and have had a beautiful time on set so far. I can’t thank the cast and crew enough for the warm welcome back," Angela said.

Yolande had a memorable five-year run as Yolande in the early 2000s, where she famously feuded with Pat Butcher over their competing car dealerships (and their interest in Patrick). She would leave the Square in 2008, without Patrick, to take a job with Minute Mart HQ in Birmingham.

She would make a few appearances in 2017, on behalf of Minute Mart, to defend Denise Fox when the Walford resident faced a company disciplinary hearing.

Producer Chris Clenshaw has said of her return: "I’m thrilled to welcome the immensely talented Angela back to the role of Yolande Trueman.

"Although we haven’t seen Yolande for some years, her departure from the Square and the breakdown of her marriage to Walford’s living legend, Patrick, left some unfinished business between the pair. We therefore thought it was important to explore a reunion between the two. We couldn’t be more thrilled to have her back!”

Since her initial EastEnders stint concluded 15 years ago, the veteran TV actress joined BBC continuing drama Doctors as Makeda Sylvester, the mother of regular character Bear Sylvester (Dex Lee), and also guest starred in Vera.

Producer Chris Clenshaw has shown a penchant for bringing back fan-favourite characters from the past, as it was recently revealed that Lucy Benjamin would be back as Lisa Fowler for a short-term story.

And, of course, the soap has revealed that Adam Woodyatt and Michelle Collins are on their way back to Walford as Ian and Cindy Beale, with Thomas Law returning as their on-screen son Peter as well.

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer.
