EastEnders and Coronation Street will be moving back to their usual Friday night schedules from next week.

Both soaps have undergone a number of scheduling changes over the last few weeks but normal service will be resumed from Friday, July 26.

ITV has been airing an hour-long Coronation Street episode at 7.30pm on Friday nights for the last few weeks, meaning EastEnders has moved to the later time of 8.30pm to prevent a clash.

As EastEnders usually airs at 8pm on Fridays, the last 30 minutes of Corrie's double bill would have been going up against it – something the shows usually prefer to avoid.

However, from next Friday, ITV will be showing the new series of Lethal Weapon from 9pm, with Corrie resuming its usual format of an episode at 7.30pm and another at 8.30pm. EastEnders will also be back in its usual 8pm slot on BBC One.

Both shows have big Friday stories planned next week, as Stacey reels over Max's new romance with Ruby in EastEnders and Paula makes a big confession in Corrie.

Coronation Street will continue tonight (July 17) at 7.30pm on ITV, while EastEnders continues tomorrow (July 18) at 7.30pm on BBC One.
