Yahoo News EastEnders' Dean Gaffney receives messages of support from soap stars following late mum's funeral
EastEnders star Dean Gaffney has received a wave of support from fellow soap stars following his late mother's funeral.
Dean – who played Robbie Jackson in the BBC soap – confirmed the sad news last month that his mother Marian had passed away, saying at the time that she was "the most amazing selfless, caring, generous soul to ever walk the Earth".
The actor has now shared a picture of the programme from her funeral earlier this week, writing on Instagram: "Gone but NEVER forgotten… Sunrise: 23/12/53. Sunset: 13/08/23. I miss and love you Mum, today, tomorrow and forever. X".
A number of well-known soap names have now shared their support for Dean in the comments, with former EastEnders star Joe Swash writing: "Dean, all our thoughts and prayers are with you mate. Me and Stacey and the kids are thinking of you. Please come over for dinner".
Ex-EastEnders actor and Hollyoaks star Richard Blackwood added: "Sending Condolences my bro," while EastEnders' Luisa Bradshaw-White wrote: "I’m so sorry Dean. Sending you love."
Coronation Street stars including Andy Whyment and Helen Flanagan also sent their condolences, the former writing: "Sending lots of love mate," the latter adding: "Sending so much love Dean".
Kym Marsh also said she was "sending lots of love", while Emmerdale's Danny Miller shared "all the love" to Dean too and Hollyoaks' Stephanie Waring posted a red heart emoji.
Writing in his original post announcing his mother's passing, Dean said: "I will retain all the amazing memories that we shared and whilst I understand the circle of life means everyone will feel this pain at some point in their lives, life can be very cruel at times, 69 is no age.
"To know I will never be able to physically see or speak to her ever again is beyond any pain I’ve ever experienced in my life.

"We all tell our parents and loved ones we love them flippantly at the end of a phone call but please tell them you actually really love them… put down that phone when you’re with them, as my mums only criticism of me was that I would be on my phone when in her company. Life really does change from one minute to the next," he added.
"I truly love you Mum, you don’t only hold a special place in my heart, you are my heart."
