EastEnders fans spot unexpected change in closing credits

EastEnders spoilers follow.

EastEnders viewers have spotted something different about the soap's credits in this week's episode.

During Monday's (November 6) episode, eagle-eyed fans noticed that a character had a name change in the closing credits.

Viewers had been used to Jessie Wallace's character being listed as "Kat Mitchell" since her marriage to Phil in September, but on Monday, the character was back to being billed as "Kat Slater".

While the change was likely just an editing mistake, some EastEnders fans couldn't help but feel delighted that Kat was back to her maiden name.

One fan wrote: "Kat Slater in today's credits that's what i like to see."

Another added: "Thank you Eastenders Credits I got Kat Slater back she could NEVER be a Mitchell."

Kat and Phil certainly had their share of bumps in the road ahead of their wedding day — which could spell future trouble for the couple.

Viewers will remember that Phil cheated on Kat with Emma Harding (Patsy Kensit) just days before he and Kat tied the knot. However, Kat is still unaware of Phil's infidelity.

Meanwhile, Eastenders is gearing up for the festive season with some explosive episodes set to air around Christmas.

Earlier this month, soap veteran James Bye, who plays Martin Fowler in EastEnders, described this year's storyline as "one of the best Christmases" he's ever done.

"It is definitely up there with all the Christmases I've read, it's definitely up there. It will be a massive Christmas," he said.

"The guys behind the story who have come up with this, they've just walloped it. They know what they're doing, they've brought it back to what people want from Christmas. They want a big EastEnders Christmas."

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer.
