EastEnders fans are predicting a massive DNA twist for the Mitchell family.

Last week, a new branch of the Mitchell family tree was introduced to Walford: Teddy and his sons Harry and Barney. Teddy is the son of Stevie, who first appeared on screen in January seeking reconciliation with estranged son Billy Mitchell.

However, he was warned by Phil Mitchell - Billy's cousin - to stay away after having surrendered into care as a child. From the age of ten, Billy grew up in care after Stevie took sole custody of his brother Charlie. The pair last saw each other off-screen over 25 years ago.

Fast forward to more recent times, and Stevie showed up again. However, it was revealed that he has a secret family, a son and two grandsons - who soon arrived in Walford, reports the Daily Star.

And in shocking scenes last week, in front of the Mitchell clan Stevie shared all. Billy and Teddy are half-brothers. He revealed to Billy that Teddy had been the product of a fling.

However, at the end of the episode, things took a suspicious turn, when Teddy cornered his dad and warned him: "Why'd you tell him Mum was just a fling? " He then quipped: "Whatever you're hiding, it'll come out in the end."

And fans have been left feeling even more suspicious after watching the latest iPlayer episode on Monday (July 1).

During a scene in the cafe, Teddy met up with Billy, Honey, Stevie and Phil. And in a bid to get to know his new family more, Teddy quizzed Phil on some Wimbledon tickets he had previously mentioned.

Phil was not too keen to converse with Teddy and quickly walked out. Meanwhile Stevie watched on and lashed out at Teddy when he sat down.

"I'm trying to build bridges here son, so if you're worried about me, don't burn them down! " He said. And then appearing to drop a huge DNA clue, Stevie added: "It ain't just Billy who's blood."

Fans were quick to react to Stevie's 'bombshell' - thinking that Billy and Phil could actually be brothers and not cousins. This would make Phil's son Ben and Billy's granddaughter Lola, who share Lexi together, second cousins.

On X, formerly known as Twitter, one person said: "Oh don't you even dare # EastEnders... #EricWho #LexisIncestIncreaseSomeone else added: "So they're potentially making Phil Grant and Sam Billy's half sib?"

A third penned: "It's gonna be Phil isn't if ffs. "Another chimed in and proclaimed: "It's all complicated and inbred lol. A fifth angry fan wrote: "omg please say sike this AINT it quit missing with soap history ffs."

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer
