EastEnders enthusiasts are predicting that Reiss Colwell, portrayed by Jonny Freeman, is on the brink of a breakdown and they believe they've identified his potential victim.

Reiss made his debut in the soap in 2022 as the great-nephew of the late Dot Branning (June Brown) and quickly became a familiar face around Albert Square.

He also embarked on a romance with Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy), a stalwart of the show. The couple were eager to start a family but faced numerous obstacles, including Reiss' infertility.

Adding to their woes, it was revealed last year that Reiss' wife was in a long-term coma. Despite the challenges, Sonia and Reiss pursued IVF treatment, with Sonia undergoing the procedure.

However, Sonia was unaware that Reiss had pilfered money from Debbie's account to pay for the IVF. They received some positive news when Sonia discovered she was pregnant, reports the Daily Star.

In a heartbreaking turn of events, Sonia was informed she wasn't actually pregnant. The couple have resumed IVF treatment, but this week on EastEnders, Reiss found himself in a financial predicament.

Reiss was presented with an £18,000 bill for outstanding care fees for his comatose wife Debbie. He was then offered a lifeline when Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) asked him to manage her accounts.

But Reiss ended up pocketing some cash for himself - and later felt guilty when Sharon gave him a bonus.

Soap fans are on the edge of their seats as they predict a dark turn for Reiss in the wake of his deceit and the escalating costs of Debbie's care. Speculation is rife that he might become the show's "next serial killer."

On social media, one viewer expressed their unease: "I feel like Reiss can kill. There's a serial killer somewhere deep inside of him itching to be let out."

Another chimed in with a grim forecast: "Reckon Reiss is going to murder Debbie to save on care home fees and get all her money."

Yet, some viewers suspect Sharon could be in imminent danger from Reiss's potential meltdown. A tweet read: "You know something if they do a reveal that Reiss is pushed to breaking point and kills Sharon...."

Another fan speculated about Reiss's intentions: "Reiss is trying to scam Sharon.. this won't end well.."

Echoing the sentiment, another said: "Creepy Reiss is going to attack or kill Sharon isn't he," while someone else cautioned: "Oh bl***y Hell, stay away from Sharon."

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer
