EastEnders' Reiss and Sonia to be left devastated in baby story

EastEnders spoilers follow.

EastEnders's Reiss Colwell and Sonia Fowler are set to face another devastating setback in their baby storyline.

The pair have been desperate to have a child for months of the long-running BBC soap, complicated by various hurdles including Reiss's infertility and a long waiting list for IVF treatment due to Sonia's status as a mother already.

In scenes set to air next week on BBC One, their struggle will continue as Sonia is left feeling upset.

Although Sonia believes that the latest IVF appointment is promising, not everything going to plan.

As the couple prepare for the next appointment and plan a date night to distract them from the stress of the medical procedures, Reiss receives a call about his wife Debbie.

He is told that Debbie has fallen ill with a severe infection, and immediately rushes to see her.

Kathy visits Sonia as she awaits an update from Reiss about Debbie. The tension reaches a head as Sonia breaks down in front of Kathy, confessing that Debbie and Reiss's past relationship is far from off her mind.

She tells Kathy that she feels haunted by Debbie, and fears this latest health emergency will once again foil their IVF attempt.

As EastEnders gears up for its big Christmas murder-mystery storyline, the residents of Walford are becoming more and more fractured. Nish Panesar recently discovered Suki's affair with Eve, while viewers will soon see Phil Mitchell making a huge discovery and Elaine Peacock clashing with Yolande Trueman.

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer.
