EastEnders shares first look as Cheryl Baker makes a cameo

EastEnders spoilers follow.

EastEnders has revealed a first look at Cheryl Baker's cameo in an upcoming Eurovision-themed episode.

The next few weeks will be eventful ones in Walford as the residents celebrate the coronation of King Charles III as well as the Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool.

As Walford gathers together to support both the UK and Ukraine in co-hosting Eurovision, Kathy Beale wants to get the party started with a bash at The Prince Albert.

Rocky Cotton has a surprise in store for Kathy when he invites Eurovision legend Cheryl Baker to make a special appearance at the Albert. Cheryl then joins a makeshift Bucks Fizz tribute act on stage as she performs with Jean Slater, Harvey Monroe and Honey Mitchell.

Baker's group Bucks Fizz won the Eurovision Song Contest as the UK's representative with their iconic single 'Making Your Mind Up' in 1981.

This special appearance is sure to be meaningful for Baker since she admitted last year that she'd failed an audition for EastEnders earlier in her career.

"I was so thrilled to be asked to take part in an episode of EastEnders," Baker said of her cameo in Walford.

"It’s a British institution, for goodness sake! As a real-life 'Eastender', I have loved the show since day one and I literally can’t wipe the smile from my face."

The Eurovision Song Contest 2023 will be presenting a week of preliminary rounds in Liverpool, after the UK was chosen to sponsor this year's event with 2022 winner Ukraine.

The finals will be held on Saturday, May 13 at Liverpool Arena, to be hosted by Alesha Dixon, Julia Sanina, Graham Norton and Ted Lasso star Hannah Waddingham.

Finale night guest performers will include last year's winners Kalush Orchestra and runner-up Sam Ryder as well as former contestants such as Israel's Netta, Italy's Mahmood and Liverpool's own Sonia.

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer.
