EastEnders shock as Dot has terrifying car accident

From Digital Spy

EastEnders just aired a shock cliffhanger as Dot Branning had a terrifying car accident with baby Matthew on board.

Dot (June Brown) was driving home from a day out at the garden centre when her eyesight problems took hold, with devastating consequences as she lost total control of her vehicle.

Viewers know that Dot has been struggling with her eyesight in recent months and has been relying on support from her loved ones since opening up about the issue.

Thursday's visit to Walford started with Dot preparing for a trip to the garden centre with Jack, only to be let down by him at the last minute when he had to go and fetch his unwell son Ricky from school.

But Jack's absence didn't put off a determined Dot - especially when she realised that he had left his satnav behind - and she decided to embark on the trip alone, with only young Matthew for company.

Dot managed to get to the garden centre without any troubles, but it became increasingly clear while she was there that her sight was causing her more problems than she was perhaps aware of.

However, it was on the journey home that real danger awaited her, and before long she was putting both herself and Matthew into serious danger.

Already distracted by the instructions on the satnav, Dot's driving was becoming more and more erratic when she suddenly ended up on the wrong side of the road - sparking chaos.

The closing moments of the episode saw Dot come off the road with her car intact, but fans will have to tune in tomorrow to find out if she and Matthew manage to escape the incident unscathed.

Let's not forget that Dot has already caused one accident already, having collided with Kim Fox's car last year - and it's painfully obvious she shouldn't be driving in her current state at all.

This latest turn of events is bound to have far-reaching consequences, but what will it mean for Dot?

EastEnders continues on Friday, February 24 at 8pm on BBC One.
