At the crematorium, a teary-eyed Shirley delivers an emotional eulogy, but Linda is narked by the presence of Janine, who she recognises as the person who told her to divorce Mick.
When it later comes to Mick’s turn to pay tribute, he’s left overwhelmed. And when Linda fails to console him, it’s Janine who jumps in to offer support. All of which leaves Linda fuming and, following another confrontation with Nancy, she begins to drink…
Janine and Mick go public
After drunkenly creating a scene at the crem, Linda becomes persona non grata. And it’s Janine who ends up getting all the kudos from Shirley for supporting Mick – though a warning is issued not to cross the line with him.
Linda, for her part, is spotted by Sharon, who gives her friend refuge and tells her that they now need a game plan to fight Janine. But they’ll need to be quick as a near-kiss has resulted in Mick telling Janine that he now needs to finalise his divorce so they can be together.
However, events move on dramatically later in the week when Linda once again hits the bottle and takes a pop at an innocent Frankie. For Mick, this is too much and he snaps at Linda, telling her that enough’s enough.
Telling Janine that it’s definitely over between him and Linda, Mick then kisses her in full view of passers-by – including a shocked Sharon.
Mick drops a bombshell on Linda
Thursday’s episode finds Shirley fearing that there are intruders at the Vic, but it’s merely Mick and Janine, who have been up talking all night.
Both Shirley and Nancy then voice their disapproval at what’s going on, but Mick doesn’t care. And Janine isn’t for turning either, what with her suggesting that she and Mick go away together for a few days.
Janine also manages to convince Mick to break the news to Linda that they’re an item. But how will Linda react when Mick musters the courage to reveal all about his new romance?
Jean tries to play matchmaker
Harvey has a warning for Jean: do not try to meddle in Rocky and Kathy’s affairs. But an impulsive Jean fails to listen and decides to take matters into her own hands.
Sensing an opportunity on Monday, she punctures Kathy’s car tyre and suggests that Rocky drive her to Tina’s funeral.
Kathy then rushes over to the car lot to see Rocky, but as they’re in the process of sorting the situation out, the pair find themselves locked inside the car. Outside, Jean walks away, feeling smug that her matchmaking has paid off.
But this turns out not to be the end of the story, and soon enough Kathy gets the wrong idea and angrily jumps to the erroneous conclusion that Rocky must have planned the whole thing.
