Former EastEnders star Patsy Kensit has revealed that she had the “most erotic experience” of her life with singer David Bowie. The 56-year-old actress appeared with Bowie, who died aged 69 in 2016, in the 1986 film Absolute Beginners.

Absolute Beginners told the story of young photographer Colin (Eddie O’Connell) who falls in love with model Suzette (Kensit). Bowie starred as Vendice Partners, an advertising mogul who takes Colin under his wing.

Speaking to The Sunday Times, Patsy reflected on the experience of filming with the singer. “Bowie was just gorgeous. Heaven. I was 16 and I think he was 30 [he was 39]. He was so lovely to everybody and I was completely in awe,” she said.

Patsy added: “I was also deluded, imagining that he’d fall in love with me and we’d run off. And of course [when we met] I was in a line-up of people where he just shook my hand and then went along the line, and I was crushed.

“But then one day I was sitting in make-up and he popped his head in the door and said hi. He came over, picked up a brush and just started brushing my hair. He didn’t say anything — he just brushed it, then walked away. It was the most erotic experience of my life.” Patsy also described how she was “really affected” by Bowie’s death from cancer in 2016.

The actress was previously married to Oasis’ Liam Gallagher and the pair share son Lennon. They split in 2000, but that wasn’t the first time Patsy walked down the aisle. Her wedding to Liam came after her divorces from both Jim Kerr and Dan Donovan. She went on to tie the knot with Jeremy Healy briefly from 2009 to 2010.

On BBC soap opera EastEnders Patsy played the mother of Lola Pearce-Brown, who tragically passed away following a battle with brain cancer last year. Reflecting on the role, Patsy told The Sun: “The script writing is so good, I loved the character and I was working with Danielle [Harold] who was incredible With a programme like EastEnders, you really do have to surrender your life to it, but if the call came tomorrow, I’d bite their hand off because I had such an amazing time.” You can keep up to date with the latest TV and showbiz news by signing up to the newsletter here.
