EastEnders star James Bye teases "massive" Christmas episodes

EastEnders spoilers follow.

EastEnders star James Bye has promised fans some "massive" Christmas episodes.

The actor, who plays Martin Fowler on the BBC One soap, opened up about the festive episodes during an interview with The Mirror, and said this is "one of the best Christmases" he's ever done.

"It is definitely up there with all the Christmases I've read, it's definitely up there. It will be a massive Christmas," he said.

James went to praise the soap's writers, saying: "The guys behind the story who have come up with this, they've just walloped it.

"They know what they're doing, they've brought it back to what people want from Christmas. They want a big EastEnders Christmas."

Jamie Borthwick, who plays Jay Brown, also weighed in and said the episodes are "Max and Stacey affair level," referencing the explosive 2007 Christmas Day episode in which Max Branning and Stacey Slater's affair was exposed on a DVD from Stacey's wedding to Max's son, Bradley.

As viewers will know, it was confirmed in a shock flashforward scene earlier this year that six Walford women - including Linda Carter, Stacey Slater, Suki Panesar, Sharon Watts, Denise Fox and Kathy Beale - will somehow be involved in the death of a mystery man on Christmas day.

"It could be any man in Walford. But as we head towards Christmas, it will become apparent and it will become very clear who the potential body is – not who the body actually is, but who the potential ones we're looking at are and the ones that it could be," EastEnders boss Chris Clenshaw recently teased.

He added: "It will be clear who it could be from a small number of people. At the moment it literally could be anyone from Winston to Grant, let's say, but it will become more apparent on who the potential, or the potential bodies."

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer.
