EastEnders star Kellie Shirley lands a new role on Doctors

Doctors spoilers follow.

Former EastEnders star Kellie Shirley is set to return to soapland after landing a role in medical drama Doctors.

The actress, known for portraying Shirley Carter's daughter Carly Wicks on the BBC soap, will appear on Doctors in the role of Jo McLennon, a patient struggling with agoraphobia. Housebound, Jo is in the care of Dr Al (Ian Midlane), who will realise her condition as well as the issues faced by her sons. While Freddie stops turning up at school, his brother Conor turns to drugs.

This marks Shirley's second appearance on the show after she first starred on the medical soap in 2016.

Recently, the actress welcomed her third child with husband Phil Davies. The couple also share twins Pearl and Louie, born in the summer of 2015.

In an interview with OK! Magazine, Shirley revealed she and Davies came up with the same name for their bundle of joy unbeknownst to one another. They both were set on Ezra and added Cillian as a middle name to honour Shirley's Irish side of the family.

"When we discussed names, we decided to go: 'One, two, three…' and say our favourite name out loud. We both said 'Ezra' at the same time and we couldn't believe it," she said.
