EastEnders star Letitia Dean addresses split fears for Sharon and Keanu

EastEnders spoilers follow.

EastEnders star Letitia Dean has addressed concerns that Sharon Watts and Keanu Taylor will separate as a result of the latter's upcoming arrest.

In scenes airing next week, Keanu partners up with Ravi Gulati so he can make some cash in order to help pay for Albie's christening.

Keanu is tasked with transporting drugs in white goods, but after dealing with a series of mishaps that make him late for the christening, he ends up parking the van outside the church.

The vehicle's alarm goes off during the service and attracts some unwelcome attention, meaning it's not long before Keanu is arrested for intent to supply.

Discussing the storyline and Sharon's reaction to Keanu's arrest, Letitia said: "She’s completely flawed by the possibility that Keanu has been mixing with drugs.

"Sharon is no shrinking violet when it comes to crime, but she’s definitely disappointed as Keanu represented something that was so safe and detached from her former life, so this really rocks her and makes her reconsider everything."

When asked if Sharon could ever forgive Keanu, the soap star added: "The most important person in Sharon’s life is Albie, and she will do whatever it takes to protect him.

"Having lost Denny, Albie’s safety is non-negotiable and therefore the possibility that Keanu may have been mixing with drugs is too much of a risk for her to take."

Ravi is later suspicious when he sees Keanu at the Queen Vic, and although Keanu denies grassing him up to help himself (a deal he was actually offered), Ravi gives him a brutal beating.

After Phil finds Keanu and calls an ambulance, Sharon anxiously waits in hospital. Letitia explained how Sharon is feeling utterly "distraught" at this point because "she's lost so many people in her life."

"The possibility that her happiness might be ripped away again is crushing and she absolutely breaks at the sight of an unconscious Keanu," she continued.

On what she thinks the future holds for the couple, Letitia said: "I’d like to think they can find a way forward after all of this. This isn’t the first stumbling block in their relationship, and I’m sure it won’t be the last!

"Sharon has just been faced with the possibility of losing Keanu so whatever anger she had towards him for the arrest has quickly turned into concern for his safety. They have a son together, and they really do love each other so I hope that will prevail."

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer.
