EastEnders star Patsy Kensit discusses possible return to the show

EastEnders star Patsy Kensit has discussed her possible return to the show, saying she would gladly appear again on the soap.

The star played Emma Harding, the estranged mother of Lola Pearce, on the BBC soap in 2023, with her storylines involving the death of her daughter and a one-night stand with Phil Mitchell.

Due to the popularity of the character, Kensit stayed on EastEnders for far longer than she originally anticipated, and told The Sun that she wouldn’t hesitate to reprise her role in the future.

“EastEnders was something I’d wanted for a long time,” she began. “I’m a super-fan and thought I’d work well in it because of my background. It made sense in so many ways. They initially said they wanted me for nine days, then I was asked to come back, which was great.

“The script writing is so good, I loved the character and I was working with Danielle [Harold, who played Lola], who was incredible. With a programme like EastEnders, you really do have to surrender your life to it, but if the call came tomorrow, I’d bite their hand off because I had such an amazing time.”

The news comes following speculation that Kensit would return to the soap in conjunction with Jazzy Phoenix (who plays Nadine Keller) after the pair shared a selfie together, but sources confirmed to Digital Spy there are currently no plans for Kensit to reprise her role.

Phoenix, however, will return to the soap next month for a brief stint as Nadine, who has history with Jay Brown after they grew close due to her resemblance to the late Lola. Details of Nadine’s reasons for returning to the Square have been kept under wraps, so you’ll have to view to find out!

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
