EastEnders youngster collapses and receives health diagnosis in dangerous steroids twist

Next week's EastEnders sees Albert Square's youngsters gear up for a boxing tournament but one teenager will be left in hospital before the bouts even kick off.

The worrying event unfolds when Tommy Moon (Sonny Kendall) teases Davinder 'Nugget' Gulati who flies off the handle at him.

As fans of the BBC One soap will know, Nugget (Juhaim Choudhury) recently asked Denzel Danes (Jaden Ladega) for some steroids to improve his physical appearance after Amy Mitchell (Ellie Dadd) knocked him back.

Denzel has been taking the drug for a while in his quest to become 'hench' as he also shares his fitness journey across his social media platforms.

But as Tommy and Nugget come to blows, Zack Hudson (James Farrar) and Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara) pull the lads apart while Denzel urges his pal to calm down before people cotton on about the steroids. Convinced they are on something, Zack puts up a ‘drugs test’ sign at the Boxing Den leaving gym obsessed Denzel freaked out unaware it’s just a deterrent.

Elsewhere, Nuggets mum Priya Nandra-Hart (Sophie Khan Levy) has been ordering things on Suki Panesar's (Balvinder Sopal) credit card without asking. This sparks worried Avani (Aaliyah James) to issue a warning to her mum not to compromise their situation through foolishness.

Priya rashly decides to make dying Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry) an offer to secure her family’s future. But when Denzel is a no-show at the boxing, Nugget goes looking for him but falls ill so heads to No.41 for help.

Inside, oblivious Priya and Nish are finalising their ‘deal’ before Nugget slumps down onto the pavement outside. Avani soon bursts into the Panesar's and disturbs the pair declaring Nugget has collapsed.

Meanwhile, following a pep talk from Yolande Trueman (Angela Wynter) Denzel heads to the tournament and wins his match, unaware that Nugget is in danger.

Nugget is rushed to hospital where Priya and Ravi are inconsolable, but are soon shocked when they receive an update about their son's condition.

In the waiting room, Dr Miller tells Nugget’s family that his kidneys aren’t working properly and asks if he’s been taking drugs, which they refute.

But Ravi takes Dr Miller aside to share Zack’s suspicions about steroids. Ravi and Priya start arguing about their parenting failures but end up leaning on each other for support. However, Priya is floored when Dr Miller comes returns to say that Ravi was right - Nugget has been taking steroids.

Later in the week, Nugget regains consciousness but the ordeal isn't over. Priya and Ravi are devastated when the doctors say his kidneys are not responding and he may need long-term dialysis.

The police also arrive and press Nugget to confess who supplied the drugs, but he won’t say. When alone with Priya, Nish reminds her of their arrangement.

Back in Albert Square, Denzel is horrified to hear what’s happened to Nugget and starts to panic. Howie (Delroy Atkinson) goes looking for his son, so Denzel hides at The Boxing Den to avoid him but Zack finds him.

As Nugget's health lies in the balance - will he make a full recovery? And will he own up to Denzel being his steroid supplier?

EastEnders fans will have to turn in from Monday, July 1, as Nuggets ordeal unravels.
