EDF giving 'guaranteed' £141 off energy bills for customers

EDF has launched a brand new energy tariff that guarantees you pay less than Ofgem price cap. EDF has announced the launch of a new energy tariff which guarantees customers pay £50 less than Ofgem's price cap.

EDF Ensure is a unique one-year, fixed-term tracker tariff with a £25 per fuel discount applied through standing charges, the fixed daily charges levied on customers’ bills, which covers the fixed cost of supplying electricity and gas to homes.

Rich Hughes, the director of Retail at EDF, said: “While the price cap will come down from July, it is expected to increase once again this Winter. Our new tariff will guarantee that customers who have already cut back or made changes to improve energy efficiency will pay proportionately less.

“Standing charges have increased significantly over the previous couple of years and this new tariff is another way we are helping customers save cash and carbon.” The energy provider has found that customers that use Energy Hub to understand their usage are able to actively reduce their bills by up to £41 a year whilst also reducing their carbon footprint.

EDF customers and their friends can also get an additional £50 off of their bill by signing up to 'Refer a Friend' which is found in 'MyAccount' online - a total of £91 gained back, plus the £50 saved on the incoming cap. The tariff will launch discounted against the 1st July price cap level, offering an annual average cost of £1,518 until the next Ofgem price cap change on 1 October.

The tariff will offer discounted standing charges for all. Customers can track the predicted cap prices on EDF’s dedicated tracker page. To sign up to the tariff, customers will need to have or agree for a smart meter to be installed.

To sign up to EDF Ensure existing customers can do so via MyAccount online or via the EDF app.
