A creepy man was caught on doorbell footage lurking in Edinburgh gardens.

The incident, which was captured on Clermiston Avenue, shows a man looking around a garden at around 1.40am on Thursday morning.

The individual is seen wearing light jeans, a light jacket and a dark hat.

A concerned resident urged locals to make sure their properties were locked up. Sharing the image online, Nick Hunter said: "Dodgy folk walking about at 1.30am in Clermiston.

"Make sure your sheds are locked!"

This comes after a mum in the Longstone area of the city caught an alleged thief breaking into her home while her family slept. The incident was caught on doorbell footage, showing a man taking off with her Audi RS5 at around 1.45am on Thursday morning.

She told Edinburgh Live : "It was very frightening waking up and realising someone had been in your property, my children were asleep in their beds upstairs. Someone broke the lock and entered the house.

"They took the car keys and then drove off with the car that was parked on the driveway. My family slept through it and only noticed this morning. Fortunately we have a second car but it is still an inconvenience."

Police Scotland have been approached for comment.
