Edinburgh residents warned of 'disruption to travel' as thunderstorms move in

Edinburgh residents have been warned of thunderstorms and heavy rain, with a yellow weather warning issued by the Met Office.

The warning is in place from 11am until 10pm on Saturday, June 15, with travel disruption likely. Those across the south of Scotland and the north of England may be impacted.

Thunderstorms are said to be "slow moving" with lightning, hail and heavy rain also expected.

The Met Office said: "What to Expect -There is a good chance driving conditions will be affected by spray, standing water and/or hail, leading to longer journey times by car and bus.

"Some flooding of a few homes and businesses is possible, leading to some damage to buildings or structures. Probably some damage to a few buildings and structures from lightning strikes.
