Residents in Edinburgh are "worried" after a large police presence showed up on a quiet street.

Those in the Inch area said there were "several police vans, cars and ambulance vehicles" on the scene. It's understood that there was also a dog handler on Monkbarns Gardens.

The emergency response was seen just after midday on Tuesday. The nature of the incident is not currently known.

Balfour Beattie told Edinburgh Live: "Major policing operation ongoing at Monkbarns Gardens ,Inch, Edinburgh.

"Several police support units along with divisional resources, plain clothed cops and dog handler. Cops on scene not saying much, elderly residents nearby are worried.

"Police vans, cars and ambulance parked in Monksbarns Gardens."

Police Scotland has been approached for comment.
