Air fryers have soared in popularity as a healthier option for frying, but they do require consistent upkeep to avoid common pitfalls and maintain their efficiency. Food debris, grease, and oil can build up over time within the appliance, which may lead to unpleasant smells, diminished cooking ability, and even health risks.

Keeping your air fryer clean is crucial not only for the best cooking outcomes but also to extend its service life, ultimately saving you money. A TikTok user, @jessicamay_home, eager to demonstrate to her audience the "best way" to "effortlessly" clean an air fryer, shared her top cleaning tip.

In her video caption, Jessica wrote: "My favourite cleaning hack for cleaning my air fryer. All you need is half a cup of bicarbonate of soda, a squeeze of Fairy Max Power and boiling water. Then leave for 20 minutes.", reports the Express.

She says: "Fairy [washing up liquid] makes for an effortless clean with four times less scrubbing." Initially, she presented her greasy air fryer baskets to the camera before applying her cleaning technique.

The cleaning enthusiast then lightly scrubbed and rinsed the baskets with a sponge after implementing her method. It's important to ensure the basket is thoroughly dried before reassembling the air fryer.

Jessica showcased the impressive results of her cleaning process, remarking: "Look at that. It's shiny, squeaky clean and ready to feed the family again."

As an additional measure, households can utilise a damp microfibre cloth to clean the exterior of the air fryer, eliminating any splashes or spills. It's crucial to give special attention to the control panel and buttons, ensuring no water infiltrates the electrical parts.

After conducting a thorough cleaning of the air fryer, it's beneficial to clean it after every use to avoid an accumulation of grease and food remnants, even if you concentrate on cleaning the basket.
