Elderly man seriously assaulted in awful North Devon attack

Two young boys have been arrested after an elderly man was assaulted and hospitalised in North Devon. Police were called to reports of an assault at a property on Mulberry Way, Roundswell around 3.25pm yesterday (Tuesday, May 14).

The victim, a man in his 70s, was hospitalised following the attack where he suffered injuries to his head and face. His injuries are not thought to be life-changing or threatening.

Two teenage boys, both from North Devon, have been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. They have both been released on police bail.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Police were called at around 3.25pm on Tuesday 14 May to Mulberry Way, Roundswell, following reports a man had been assaulted.

"The man, in his 70s, was taken to hospital where he was treated for injuries to his head and face. His injuries are not considered to be life-changing or life-threatening.

"Two teenage boys, both from North Devon, have been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and have been released on police bail pending further enquiries."
