Pensioner pronounced dead outside of Rutherglen Health Centre

A pensioner has been pronounced dead outside of the Rutherglen Health Centre.

Police were called at around 6.40am this morning (Wednesday, May 1) to a report of a man found injured in the Stonelaw Road area of Rutherglen.

After officers and paramedics attended, an 89-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

However, the tragic death is being treated as unexplained and is not believed to be suspicious.

Cops are carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 6.40am on Wednesday, 1 May, to a report of a man found injured in the Stonelaw Road area of Rutherglen.

“Emergency services attended and an 89-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The death is being treated as unexplained but not believed to be suspicious. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson a:dded “We received a call at 6.50am to attend an incident at Rutherglen Health Centre car park and an ambulance was dispatched to the scene.”
