Elie Youan tells Hibs fan 'shut your mouth' as St Johnstone absence sparks 'show pony' jibe

Elie Youan has told a doubting Hibs fan "shut your mouth" on social media after he was missing from the starting lineup.

Nick Montgomery's men didn't want to be in the bottom six of the Premiership, but kicked off their final five fixtures with a 3-1 win over Craig Levein's St Johnstone in Perth. Youan wasn't in the squad that was named for McDiarmid Park as Adam Le Fondre, Myziane Maolida and Marton Boyle led the line.

Curious fans posed the question in response to Hibs posting a team graphic on the club's official instagram account pre-match. The first reply was from a peeved punter, who said: "Hopefully looking for a move the guy frustrates me. If he would stop all the show pony stuff n shoot more n track back n hep defend he'd be fine." But that didn't go unnoticed by the player himself, who responded with his own comment: "Shut your mouth I'm injured."

That got 300 likes from more sympathetic supporters. One replied: "Don't listen to him we love you Youan," while another added: "Show pony with the most goals and assists in the team. Right you are."

The original poster then appeared to backtrack, replying with three laughing empojis and the message: "I think u would be a cracking player if u just done the basic track back n pass the ball rather than all the tricks. I'm no the only one who thinks this. Hope ur injury isn't too bad."
